Horringer-Cum-Ickworth Community Council AGM

Meeting held on 10th May 2006

  • Chairman’s Report A copy of the report is available on request. The main points are:

The crisis last year when no-one came forward to take over the committee chair was dealt with by a job sharing scheme and the committee bringing down the required actions to a minimum

 We managed to save over £1,000 on insurance without loss of cover

 The Constitution was successfully rewritten to the satisfaction of the Charities Commission, with thanks to Mel Sheard, Bryan Stokes and John White

New and improved hire agreements and booking forms were produced

We are in the process of seeking grant aid for “Improved Access to the Community Centre facilities”- not a car park!

The hall continues to be well used.

The three main Village Events were all well attended and profitable

Horringer’s Webmaster Ian McDonald stood down and was replaced by Clare and Liz Pelling.  Thanks to him for all the excellent work of the last six years.

Licensing rules changed and the committee subcontracted bar bookings to Chris Gray Bar Services which brings extra income to the Hall.

  • Financial Reports
    The audited accounts are held separately but the following is a summary of key points:

Community Council  - Treasurer Hugh Nunn

  • Many thanks to Mel Sheard for the Open Gardens which contributed over £800 to funds. 
  • Recycling also netted over £800
  • The Car Park Fund has been boosted by funds from the Main Account in order to attract matched subsidy

Jill O’Kelly proposed that the accounts were accepted, Marion Miles seconded, all in favour

Hall Management Accounts - Treasurer Robin Davies

  • Income increased as fees went up
  • Outgoings included a new licence and maintenance
  • Question – what proportion of expenses are shared with the club? Ans – 10% insurance and 50% water rates
    Bert Biglin proposed that the accounts were accepted, John Cannon seconded, all in favour

    Events Committee - Treasurer John Cannon
  • Jane Rutherford proposed that the accounts were accepted Robin Davies seconded, all in favour.
  • Mike Pelling proposed thanks to the treasurers.
  • Appointment of auditor
    Bryan Stokes proposed that Mike Graham be appointed as auditor once again for Community Council and Hall Accounts, seconded by Bert Biglin, all in favour.  L Stacey to send letter of thanks.

Treasurers
Hugh Nunn and Robin Davies to be re-elected as Community Council and Hall Management treasurers respectively; proposed Bert Biglin, seconded Bryan Stokes . all in favour

Liz Stacey to be re-elected; proposed Hugh Nunn seconded Beryl Hughes .all in favour

Booking Secretary
Beryl Hughes to be re-elected; proposed Liz Stacey, seconded by Bryan Stokes, all in favour

Elected Members

Organisation Representative Members
Nomination for  Donald Campbell for Preschool was received, existing representatives to be re-elected, proposed Mike Pelling, seconded Liz Stacey.

 Any other business
A change was proposed to the Little Ernie Annual Draw, that the draw should be done before the annual Dinner and the presentation made immediately -all in favour.

Everyone was asked to help find a successor to Alan Long who is standing down as Little Ernie Treasurer

A notice was requested for the kitchen asking for everyone to wash up cups thoroughly and return them to the cupboards

An enquiry was made if the table trolley could be replaced with something else that was not so hard to use
