| Our Institute is the oldest in Suffolk West and on April 5th 2008 we will be celebrating ninety years of Women’s Institute in Horringer & Ickworth. We have fifty members whose age range is as varied as our activities. Yes, some of us do make jam, and we do sing ‘Jerusalem’, but there is much more to us than that. Creative, academic and sporting interests are catered for, and as part of the Suffolk West Federation of WIs, members have the opportunity of participating in lectures, workshops, and outings. At the present time we are preparing for a year of celebrations in 2008. During the weekend of April 5th and 6th there will be the ‘Theodora Exhibition’ in the Community Centre when the majority of the village organisations are joining us to make it a real village occasion. Later towards the end of April the WI part of the exhibition will be on show in the West Wing at Ickworth for four weeks. We have been lucky enough to have been awarded a lottery grant to allow over 30 members to attend a residential course at Denman College in Oxfordshire, the WI’s own college. We are booked to go there from June 6th - 8th with a visit to Blenheim Palace planned en route to Denman.
